Coupe du Monde 2014

I just got back from 3 awesome weeks of competition. It was my first World Cup and it started in my hometown, Millau in France, during one of the biggest international outdoor sports and music festival: The Natural Games!

It was the most intense week of my life, just before I had my final high school exams, then I went to the airport to pick up my friend and also current World Champion Hunter Katich. After a few days training the competition started by the C1 and the juniors! I was at home, all my friends and familly came support me and saw me finish second, just 10 points behind the swedish Max Karlsson. Lane Demeuleneare came 3rd, Fabien 4th and unfortunally Hunter ended 5th after amazing rides during the prelims. The feature at the next stop in Salt, near Girona in Catalunya (Spain) was a bit the same as Millau's hole. I ended 2nd again behind Max, Lane 3rd and Hunter Katich 4th.
The final world cup was in Sort. Located in the Catalunyan Pyrenees the wave there is big hole, trashy and difficult. I won the prelims, but unfortunally I ended up 7th behind Lane. I was happy to see my French team-mate, Alex Gambin is going to the finals. At the end, Max won again, Hunter Katich did second and the local spanich Ian Salvat came in 3rd. After a memorable party it was time to go home. I finished 2nd overall in this World Cup, and it's time to train again. I am looking forward the European Championships in August! - Thomas Richard, Kokatat Global Ambassador
